Privacy policy

This policy covers the Memship marketing website. It is a static, informational site with no accounts and no tracking. The only place it collects personal data from you is the contact form, described below; it also publishes the maintainers' own profiles on the About page, with their consent. The self-hosted Memship application is separate software that you run on your own infrastructure, and it is not covered here.

What we collect

Only what you type into the contact form, and only if you send it. There is no sign-up and there are no analytics or advertising trackers, and we do not build profiles of visitors. If you email the address published on this site instead, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and use it only to answer you; we do not add it to any mailing list.

The contact form

The form asks for your name, your email address, an optional organization name, and your message. We use them for one purpose: to answer your enquiry and any follow-up about it. The lawful basis is your consent, which is why the form will not send without the checkbox ticked. You can withdraw it at any time by writing to info@openmemship.com, and we will delete the enquiry.

What you send is checked for spam by Cloudflare Turnstile, then passed to a server operated by itqualab, which records it so a person can read and answer it. It is not sold, not shared with anyone else, and not used for advertising or profiling. We keep enquiries only while they are useful for answering you and for the exchange that follows, and delete them once that is done.

The maintainer profiles

The About page shows the name, photo, role, short biography and GitHub link of each maintainer. That is personal data, published here with their explicit consent, and each of them wrote or approved their own text. It is not collected from visitors and it is not obtained from third-party profiles. Any maintainer can have their profile amended or removed at any time by writing to info@openmemship.com.

Cookies and browser storage

The site sets one cookie, cc_cookie, which records the storage choice you make in the banner so you are not asked again. Beyond that it keeps two values in your browser only if you allow them: your chosen language and whether you dismissed the announcement bar. These stay in your browser (local storage), are never sent to us, and are not used to identify or track you. You can change your choice at any time from Cookies and storage in the footer.

Server logs

As with any website, the hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, date, and requested page) for security and reliability. These logs are technical and are not used to identify individual visitors.

Third-party services

This site is hosted on Cloudflare, and the contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from bots. Turnstile looks at signals from your browser to decide whether a submission is automated; it is not an advertising product and does not track you across sites. The source code and issue tracker are hosted on GitHub. If you choose to visit or interact with the project there, that is subject to GitHub's own privacy statement.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the following rights over your personal data:

• Access: to know what data is held about you.
• Rectification: to correct inaccurate data.
• Erasure: to request deletion of your data.
• Objection: to object to certain processing.
• Portability: to receive your data in a portable format.

To exercise any of them, write to info@openmemship.com. If you have never used the contact form, we hold nothing about you and there is nothing to access, correct or delete. You may also lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the project evolves or before the site's public launch. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
